Teenagers today face a highly unpredictable future. To succeed at school, at university, at work and in life in general, students need to develop skills that will help them adapt to change and face the unknown with confidence. In this talk, we will look at practical ways of making English lessons a space where life skills, thinking skills, and social and emotional intelligence can all happen, without forgetting the importance of meaningful and motivating language practice too. Throughout the talk, we will see how the new Macmillan secondary series Global Innovators can help develop all these vital skills and help make our students truly future ready.

After studying at Oxford, Dave trained to be a Secondary School teacher. He then moved to Spain where he has taught teenagers for around 40 years and written books for teens since 1995. He is the author of the best-selling ‘Gateway’ series, and is the series editor and co-author of the brand-new Macmillan Secondary course ‘Global Innovators’.
